The Raging Waters | Finding Freedom in The Word

In the beginning was an astonishing emptiness

Darkness ruled there

A chaotic ocean

Sending wave after wave

No land in sight

If human beings existed in this world

They would never survive the storm

He sits over His creation

Watching the chaos take place

He floats above the raging waters

Like a dove

Looking over its nest

He speaks

Light appears

And the darkness is succumbed

He speaks again

Calming the waters

Bringing dry land to house life

With His Word

He provides the heavens and the earth with everything humanity needs to survive and thrive

Then last of all

He creates humanity

He provides us with everything we need

But it does not take long for the water to start stirring again

We may not even notice it at first

It begins under the surface and out of sight

Then it becomes consuming

Wave after wave

We take the hits

We struggle to keep our heads above the water

And then we start to sink

Down we go

Into the darkness of the Abyss

The darkness is consuming

It tells us that we have no hope

It whispers into our ear, “Just give up. Stop fighting. You are done. No one is coming to save you”

In one last final act of desperation

We call out to our long-forgotten Creator

“Lord, help me!” we cry, “I am not ready to die!”

And sure enough, there He is

A faithful Father

Hand extended

We just have to reach out and take it

In the beginning was an astonishing emptiness

Darkness ruled there

Now light reigns
